What to Expect from PRISTIQ
PRISTIQ is proven to relieve a broad range of depression symptoms. When taking PRISTIQ, it’s important to give it time to work. Everybody responds differently to treatment. In general, it can take several weeks to feel the full benefit of a prescription antidepressant, although some people will start to feel better sooner. Remember, it's important to take PRISTIQ as prescribed by your health care professional. Don't stop taking PRISTIQ without first talking to your health care professional, even if you don't feel results right away.
In clinical studies, PRISTIQ 50 mg showed significant improvement compared to placebo (sugar pill) on the Sheehan Disability Scale, a well-established method for measuring functional outcomes across the following:
- Work
- Social life/leisure activities
- Family life/home responsibilities
As with any medication, you may experience side effects while taking PRISTIQ. Be sure to talk with your health care professional. At the recommended 50-mg dose, side effects of PRISTIQ may include nausea, dizziness, sweating, constipation, and decreased appetite. In general, side effects occurred most frequently during the first week of treatment in clinical studies. This is not a complete list of side effects (see Important Safety Information).
In clinical studies of the recommended 50-mg dose of PRISTIQ, there was no clinical difference in weight gain versus placebo (sugar pill) and a low incidence of sexual function disorders in men and women.
It is important to keep taking PRISTIQ as directed to give the medication time to work. Do not stop taking or change the dose of PRISTIQ without consulting your health care professional.
Only your health care professional can tell you how long you should take PRISTIQ. Keep taking PRISTIQ for as long as your health care professional has instructed. Be sure to make follow-up appointments to monitor your progress on PRISTIQ.
